Job Summary
- A Medium Voltage (MV) Site Engineer oversees the installation, Underground cable works, overhead line works; installations, testing, and commissioning of MV equipment (switchgears, transformers, RMUs) to ensure technical compliance, safety, and project timelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Installation & Commissioning: Supervise Underground cable works, Overhead lines works, Installation, testing (Hi-pot, insulation resistance), and commissioning of MV panels, transformers, and Ring Main Units (RMUs).
- Managing subcontractors - ability to correct where necessary
- Daily project monitoring and reporting and preparing as-built documentation.
- Reviewing design drawings and troubleshooting on-site
- coordinating Materials/ Materials check & monitoring
- Technical Support & Troubleshooting: Act as a technical expert to resolve on-site issues, analyze equipment failures, and provide solutions to the construction team.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure all works adhere to NEMSA, LASMIRA guidelines, IEC standards, and electrical codes.
- Project Documentation: Prepare as-built drawings, inspection reports, and test documentation /Test reports
- Site Supervision: Monitor progress, coordinate subcontractors
- Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in Medium Voltage; (33kv & 11kv) works, equipment, protective relay testing supervision.
Qualifications & Experience
- HND, B.Sc, or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
- Minimum of 10 years proven experience in power distribution projects.
- Strong hands-on experience in LV/MV installations, transformer installation, cable jointing, overhead line works, and switchgear installation.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise large technical teams.
- Sound knowledge of industry standards and electrical safety regulations.
